Using HDRI's in Cinema 4D v7 +

One of the more exciting developments in the last few years in the field of Computer Graphics has been that of using HDR images to define the lighting for a 3d scene. By using this technique, you can produce very realistic and warm images based on lighting data taken from real world locations. While many applications are starting to support this type of image, Cinema 4D still has not native support for them. While you can wrap a normal image around your scene, the low dynamic range of normal image fail to product the warmth and 'realistic' looking lighting HDR images provide.

Create a new material and name it HDR Shader

Same scene with the new material. Notice how it comes alive now and looks like it fits into the scene. No radiosity settings were changed
